The World League for Freedom and Democracy (WLFD) Headquarters is descended from the Asian Pacific Anti-Communist League (APACL) which was established in 1954 under the joint sponsorship of the President Chiang Kai-shek of the R.O.C. Taiwan, President Elpidio Quirino of the Republic of the Philippine and President Syngman Rhee of the Republic of Korea. In 1990 by a resolution adopted at its 22nd Annual general conference, this organization was renamed as “World League for Freedom and Democracy” (WLFD). Its headquarters is in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China.
WLFD is a global organization. Now the WLFD Headquarters R.O.C. has 141 national chapters and affiliated international agencies, all over the world and whose mission is to spotlight and encourage political freedoms through strengthening democratic principles in all the countries of the world. The organization serves as a catalyst to focus international attention on the activities of people who are fighting for their rights of self -determination as demonstrated in self-governing practices and advocacy for civil liberties.
